How do you photograph weddings?
Photographing weddings is both an art and a responsibility. My approach to wedding photography is to capture the essence of the day, focusing on both the grand moments and the small, intimate details that make each wedding unique. Here's how I typically approach it:
- Pre-Wedding Consultation:
Before the big day, I meet with the couple to discuss their vision, preferred style, and any specific moments they want captured. This helps me understand their personalities, the tone of the wedding, and any must-have shots.
- Candid and Posed Shots:
On the wedding day, I aim to blend candid moments with beautifully composed portraits. I take a documentary-style approach, capturing genuine, unscripted emotions—tears, laughter, glances, and candid interactions. At the same time, I take the time to direct and capture formal group portraits and couple photos that are timeless and elegant.
- Details and Atmosphere:
I focus on the little things—your dress, shoes, rings, the bouquet, decor, and other personal details. These elements add depth to the story of the day and provide context for the emotions and celebrations.
- Natural and Romantic Couple Shots:
I create opportunities for the couple to have some quiet moments together throughout the day, often during golden hour (just before sunset) for beautiful, soft lighting. These intimate shots give the couple a chance to breathe, reflect, and enjoy the moment while I capture it all in a natural, relaxed way.
- Key Moments:
I ensure that the key moments—such as the ceremony, vows, first kiss, first dance, speeches, and cake cutting—are captured with care. These moments are the heart of the wedding day, and I take great care in documenting them without disrupting the flow of the event.
- Teamwork (If Applicable):
If I have a second shooter or assistant, we work seamlessly to cover both wide angles and intimate close-ups, ensuring we don't miss any important moments from different perspectives.
Where are you based and do you travel?
I''m based in the City of Roses, Bloemfontein, Free Stat. and yes I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, I always try to find a way to come to you.
When will we get our photos?
- Wedding Photos - You will receive a USB with all your photos within maximum 8 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story).
- Wedding Video: 4-6 weeks
- All Family, Newborn, Smash the Cake etc.: 2 weeks
